Sometimes we need a friend. Sometimes we do not.

Friends are great when you need a comforting shoulder to lean on. They can provide insights and a different perspective.

On almost every subject, except your relationship.

Getting advice from friends is sometimes more of a hinderance, especially when you are in a slump.

That’s because every couple has a different sex life with a different meaning, a different script, and a different frequency.

Once you start comparing yourself to those around you, people often feel inadequate. It can set up false expectations for your relationship.

The reason why people are not having sex or not enjoying the sex they are having is unique to their relationship, not yours.

Comparing your sexuality and sexual relationship to others is unhelpful because there is no “normal.”

Everyone’s idea of pleasure is unique – what works for one person, may not for someone else.

Possible Alternatives

Instead, take the time to explore your own sexual desire, preferences and pleasure zones.

Then you can have an open conversation with your partner about your needs and expectations.

Talking about your feelings with your partner can improve intimacy rather than detract from it.

And if you do want to share how you feel with a friend, find one who can listen to your feelings with empathy, not solve your problems.
