Couples Therapy when Relationship is Good

Seek couples therapy when you’re happy?

It might sound like a crazy concept- embark on couples counseling when you are in a place of bliss with your significant other. Why would you need therapy when life is great and things are on track?

At some point of your relationship, it’s inevitable to face conflict. The saying: “it’s not how a couple stays together, it’s how they fight together” is rather poignant.

Learning to disagree properly whilst you are in a happy stage can potentially be a great time to learn the tools on how to face conflict with better communication methods. Not to mention get back into the groove of things after a fight.

Aside from learning how to face conflict, another positive opportunity relationship therapy could pose is to openly discuss the areas in the relationship that feel like a challenge. Whether it’s discussing awkward conversations like finances, dealing with the in-laws, or who does the chores more; it’s good to get these out in the open and not let them fester. Festering can lead to resentment. Resentment leads to not initiating sexy time. And no one wants that happening in their relationship.

Iron out the kinks you might not have the courage to bring up when things are good.  This doesn’t necessarily mean you will never face conflict in your relationship, but you can possess the tools to navigate disagreements and harvest an excellent connection.
